2011 in Review – Weddings & Engagements

At the beginning of each year, I like to take a moment to look back through everything that we photographed the year before. I feel fortunate to report that 2011 was a very good year for us. We photographed 22 weddings, 9 engagement sessions, and one save-the-date mini session. While that may not seem like a lot to some, to us it’s all about quality over quantity. We had the opportunity to work with many new and wonderful clients, and to document a small, yet significant, slice of their lives together. In honor of all of our amazing wedding and engagement photo clients, I thought I’d post one image from each wedding and engagement session that we photographed in 2011. To see some of our favorite images from the 2011 weddings & engagement season, please click the photo below.1.22.2011- Kicking off the year right with our first photo shoot: Christi and Josh’s sunny day engagement session (in January!) at Fort Vancouver.2.18.2011 – A beautiful beginning to our wedding season starts with Jessica and Paul’s winter nuptials. 2.20.2011 – Allie and Justin warm up a cold February day with their engagement session on Sauvie Island. 3.8.2011 – Catie and Josh make it personal by choosing to have their engagement session take place in all of the favorite spots in their SW Portland neighborhood. 3.19.2011 – Jenna and Ryan’s gorgeous wedding at Zenith Vineyard embraces the arrival of Spring. Their wedding was also featured on Style Me Pretty in October! 3.25.2011 – Springtime rain in the valley means snow is falling on Mt. Hood! Christi and Josh get cozy at their winter wonderland wedding at the historic Timberline Lodge. 3.27.2011 – There is no place like home for a Save-the-Date mini session with Aaron and Libbi (and their puggle, Shelby, too).  4.29.2011 – April sun showers make for an exceptionally beautiful wedding day for Emily and Mark. This adorable couple was married on the 10th anniversary of their very first date! 05.28.2011 – Josh and his groomsmen share a laugh at the World Forestry Center. Catie and Josh’s wedding officially kicks off our summer wedding season!06.07.2011 – Libbi and Aaron take a cue from the Pointer Sisters and jump for their love during their June engagement session in Vancouver, Wa. 06.25.2011 – Flower girls explore the wonders of nature at Whitney and Stephen’s lovely wedding at the Hoyt Arboretum. 06.27.2011 – Portland is the City of Roses and Peninsula Park’s Rose Garden was the perfect spot for Brandy and Adiam’s early summer engagement session. 07.02.2011 – Lincoln and I make a trip to Bend to photograph Sarah and Erik’s wedding at Pronghorn. Beauty was abound on this gorgeous day!07.03.2011 – Less than 24 hours later, Lincoln and I are back in Portland to photograph Keri and Ricky’s wedding at the Oregon Golf Club. So many lovely moments and details made this day exceptional.    07.09.2011 – I tip my hat to Chris and Melanie’s abundantly sunny wedding day in Estacada, Oregon. Thinking back on this wedding makes me long for summer!07.16.2011 – Laura and Eric’s wedding is number one in my book. Just one week before their wedding, they had to find a new venue and caterer, yet they still managed to have an unbeatable wedding day. Kudos!07.17.2011 – A big hooray for Carolyn and Paul! They, too, had an unexpected venue change on the day of their wedding, but still hosted one of the most beautiful and touching weddings we’ve ever photographed. 07.20.2011 – We had so much fun with Kristin and Jeff at their engagement session at Kristin’s parents’ home in NW Portland. Didn’t have time to blog this session, but please check out their amazing wedding day!07.30.2011 – Danielle and Aaron’s wedding in Reno was the highlight of our summer! These two have become our good friends and I can easily say that this world is a better place because Danielle and Aaron are in it. 08.05.2011 – If you want to get an idea of how awesome Shelly and Nathan are, check out their engagement AND wedding photos. We adore these two. I also adore this photo of Shelly and her mom before the ceremony. xo08.06.2011 – There were SO many lovely moments from Jo and Ryan’s wedding day. I chose this as a highlight because the toasts were my favorite part of their day. So many laughs and tears. Just beautiful.08.13.2011 – A private, post-ceremony, horse and carriage ride through the vineyard is just one of the many things that made Melissa and Nick’s wedding day sweetly romantic. 08.21.2011 – On her wedding day, Allie told me that it’s moments like the one pictured above that make for the best wedding photos. I loved hearing that! Check out Allie and Justin’s wedding in Leavenworth, WA. 08.27.2011 – I will never forget Brandy and Adiam’s wedding. The seamless blending of two different wedding traditions and cultures made for an exciting and breathtaking day!08.31.2011 – Engagement photos three days before the wedding is not something we normally do. However, when it’s our only option, we go for it. So glad we did, Stephen and Julie! 🙂09.03.2011 – To me, this is the reason that dogs are man (and woman’s) best friend. They seem to offer comic relief at just the right moments. See more of Julie and Stephen’s amazing wedding day at Mt. Hood B&B.09.10.2011 – Talk about perfect days, Brittney and Andrew’s wedding day was just that. Allow yourself be completely charmed by this celebration in Downtown Portland!09.12.2011 – Ah, love. If you would like to see two adorable people just completely smitten with one another, you must check out Keri and Dom’s engagement session in SE Portland. 09.30.2011 – Although the last day of summer was on 9.22.11, Rebecca and Logan’s wedding at Bridal Veil Lakes was, in my books, the unofficial last day of summer and, boy, was it a GREAT one. Best wedding EVER!10.09.2011 – It’s now fall which means that the rain has returned to Oregon. But that’s ok! As you can see from Libbi, Aaron, and their friends, you can still have a great time in the rain, even on your wedding day. 🙂 10.15.2011 – It’s always bittersweet, photographing the last wedding of the year. However, Kristin and Jeff’s gorgeous fall nuptials at the Allison Inn & Spa made for a joyful ending to a wonderful season.12.05.2011 – What a treat it was to end the season by flying to Los Angeles to do an engagement session with my college friend, Meg, and her fiance, Jay. They will be married next year. Life is sweet.
